KIERAN SHEA’s fiction has appeared in dozens of venues including Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, Thuglit, Dogmatika, Word Riot, Plots with Guns, Beat to a Pulp, Crimefactory, and Needle: A Magazine of Noir ...as well as in some beefy-looking anthologies most of which will make you question the tether of his shiny, red balloon. To his self-deprecating astonishment he's also been nominated for the Story South’s Million Writers Award twice without sending the judges so much as a thank you note. He co-edited the satiric transgressive fiction collection D*CKED: DARK FICTION INSPIRED BY DICK CHENEY and his debut novel KOKO TAKES A HOLIDAY is out now from Titan Books. Kieran divides his time between 38°58′22.6″N- 76°30′4.17″W and 39.2775° N, 74.5750° W.

Hello, 2011

I rarely, if ever, put out personal stuff on this blog. This is partly because I want to keep my private life private and reserve this space for trite ramblings related to writing and the sphere of crime fiction. Sure, if you dig deep enough you can glean other stuff about me and bore yourself...but what I hope is to keep this thing going on a "party conversation" level...informative but superficial, is that okay with you? If you want to get personal or morose or whiny, write me a letter, buy me a sandwich...otherwise forget it, pal. I've got other places to gripe as I'm sure you do too...and believe me I get enough flack for wasting my time here anyway. That said, I have a few choice words for the year that just ended. (CLEARS THROAT) Okay, her goes nothing. 2010? Are you listening? Great. Uh...you had your good moments, 2010...but by and large, you were a pain in the ass. That's right. A stinker. A suckhole of monumental proportions. In short--you freakin' FAILED, 2010. Sorry to break it to you, bro, but the truth hurts. Time to move on. Goodbye and good f**king riddance. Now then, 2011? Awwww, you're a cute little toddler, ain'tcha? You have a gleam in your eye. I pray you will be better. I mean, the Caps won the Winter Classic and cleaned Crosby's clock so I'm banking that as a good omen. So, let's start fresh, huh? Let's go kick some butt. Onward.
