Huh...look at that. Three of my favorite writers in one old photograph. Montana-Con, I suppose. The back of Jim Harrison's head (left), Richard Brautigan holding court, and Tom McGuane. No idea who else is in the shot, but I was re-reading some McGuane just the other day. Man, thank God he finally got his web site going. Maybe a new generation will discover TM's talent and whimsy (crime-noir nuts/Warren Oates fans should always read 92 in the Shade and maybe even The Sporting Club). Brautigan and Harrison, gee, do I need to hold your hand on the way to your local bookstore or something? Back when writers were of the hero bone and not so much the grifter's.

He co-edited the satiric transgressive fiction collection D*CKED: DARK FICTION INSPIRED BY DICK CHENEY and his debut novel KOKO TAKES A HOLIDAY is out now from Titan Books.
