To his self-deprecating astonishment he's also been nominated for the Story South’s Million Writers Award twice without sending the judges so much as a thank you note. He co-edited the satiric transgressive fiction collection D*CKED: DARK FICTION INSPIRED BY DICK CHENEY and his debut novel KOKO TAKES A HOLIDAY is out now from Titan Books. Kieran divides his time between 38°58′22.6″N- 76°30′4.17″W and 39.2775° N, 74.5750° W.

Meet Dave

A while back the clown prince of fisticuffs--Greg Bardsley--blogged about his friends doing pretty nifty things. Allow me to introduce you to Dave. Dave and I used to room together, we went to school together, got into assorted ill adventures together. Anyhoo, Dave fights the good fight at the EPA, but like so many in my satellite bands he does cool things to keep himself sane. For as long as I've known this leaping lord of fly-fishing, Dave has played music. It's his passion. I once even had his old band Flume play a gig in my backyard, grinding through Echo & the Bunnymen and Throwing Muses covers and more before a second band (a swing orchestra with a little person tooting a 3/4 tuba) brought in the cops. Good times. Alas, people mellow as the years wane. He now has a little project called Sansyou. Mixing strings with percussion and guitars. Instrumental stuff. I like When Birds Blackened the Sky. I also like it when people buck expectations and do cool stuff like this.
