To his self-deprecating astonishment he's also been nominated for the Story South’s Million Writers Award twice without sending the judges so much as a thank you note. He co-edited the satiric transgressive fiction collection D*CKED: DARK FICTION INSPIRED BY DICK CHENEY and his debut novel KOKO TAKES A HOLIDAY is out now from Titan Books. CHEW D'MAN: New Hero

I've just unwound my brain from chipping away at the stack on my bedside table. Pynchon's latest (need a long detox from the drug references), Gaylin's Heartless, Neville, the G-Man... I needed something to cleanse my pie hole. Cue the local comic pusher. Got hooked up with Brubaker's tapout to INCOGNITO (just smoked--hyper violent). Looking for a new hero. Found him--CHEW. Fans of Ellis' FELL and any slab of warped satirical humor will dig this new Philly supercop. "Chew" --Tony Chu--is a reluctant federal agent. He also happens to be a Cibopath – one who gets psychic vibes from what he eats (i.e. apples...where they are grown, cows how they are slaughtered, murder victims--see cannibalism) – A powerful strain of Avian Flu jacks the Food and Drug Administration into the most kickass government agency and the FDA recruits Chu for his psychic abilities. Bumbling and earnest, Chu is a great character. Check it out.
